Andrea Kussman, MD, CAQSM is an Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine, and is board certified in Sports Medicine and Family Medicine. Dr. Kussman is passionate about helping people of all ages to remain physically active and pursue their wellness goals. She takes a collaborative approach to the care of her patients, getting to know each of them and partnering to find solutions for their health concerns. Dr. Kussman is particularly interested in preventing and treating sports injuries, bone health, mental health in athletes, care of endurance athletes, and supporting women’s physical activity across their lifespans. This includes an interest in menstrual dysfunction in athletes, exercise during pregnancy, return to exercise postpartum, and eating disorders in athletes. She has published research in several of these areas. She is the Associate Director of Female Athlete and Bone Health Research and Co-Chair of the Wellness Health and Energy Availability Team with UW Athletics. She is skilled in using ultrasound for diagnostic and procedural purposes, including ultrasound-guided injections such as platelet-rich plasma or hyaluronic acid.
